Lucca C&G 2017: Walk around [part01]

Yes, this is another series of posts about my annual Lucca Comics & Games experience. It was the start of November 2017 and I waited for it ALL the year. Every day a specific theme and lots of photos. This time a walk around to begin. And, if you don’t know what is this convention, look at these posts and to those of other years here on the blog. And think about a visit.

Disclaimer: almost all the photos on this blog are taken by me, however sometime I stole them from the web when I find something really interesting or I am too distracted by things to do instead to work as a reporter. This time I helped myself by photos from my friend Paolo, Damon, Bagna, Gioconomicon and others that now I can’t remind.

Romics – october 2017

Two times every year, this is an appointment that I don’t want to miss. As the same I go here in the less overcrowded day of the convention. I find some comics that I didn’t pick up previously, a lot of gadgets (as Funko), and a day immersed in one of my principal interests. And in the last years it is even the moment to taste weird foods and beverages from Asia, and a big slice of pizza with mortazza.

Romics – april 2017

Time travel. There were two more Romics editions after this one. Always the same story about backlog of posts. However we had fun at time. It is the excuse to buy comics, gadgets. And to taste strange foods and drinks from Asia. And to watch beautiful female cosplayers. We visit Romics during an entire day from the open to the closure, always in the less overcrowded day.

Due to Romics links with Japan we had the visit of Yoshiyuki Tomino, the man behind Gundam.

At the end an image of my friend Paolo together with his nephew, a eclectic cosplayer.

Lucca C&G 2016: Walk around [part11]

I showed close-ups at the most on particular subjects. Now is the turn to watch some views of Lucca and his habitants in the 50th year of the convention. Always a partial view, but it is something at least. The eye of the camera is so small that cannot reproduce hundred of thousand people that walk around Lucca and that are involved in this world.

At the end the new fashion of 2016: barriers against death by car terrorism.

Romics fall 2016: diabolik

Romics is not the place for exhibitions or talks about comics and authors, it is more focused on cosplay and gadgets. But this time there were really great exhibits. And the best was this one on Diabolik. I was amazed.

Different reprints of the first number.

Some modifications on the pages between different editions.

The same sequence in three versions. The last one is the modern work of Palumbo, one of cartoonists that I prefer more.

Always Palumbo, in successive phases of a cover.

Homages by some crucial authors to Diabolik.

What I will read in the future. Palumbo’ sketches for the new second season of DK series.

A room with models of Diabolik’s car.

Every model is inspired by comic stories. Often the car has got some tricks to support the escape of the thief. A real evil genius. He is the king of terror.

Romics fall 2016: overview

At this time of the year you could think that now is the turn of Lucca C&G. I’m a more than a month late with reports, so Lucca C&G is for another time. Here there are a series of 4 posts about the Roman comic convention at the start of October instead.

The fair is for 4 days and to avoid crowds we visited it the first day. However Saturday and Sunday we were in Empoli. But that is another future post.

Andrea was at this table for a couple of hours. He was present as adviser for the upcoming class about game writing.

The other two mates with me and Andrea, ready to spend money on silly things. Just like me.

This edition was the biggest of its history with 5 pavilions and a lot of stands more. We stayed an entire day to see all.

Around there were a lot of gadgets, stuffed animals, statuettes, t-shirts, contact lens for cosplayers, and all you can think that is related to comics. And comics inside all this were the less part.

However I like cute things.

The last gadget sensation: a Marvel door mat!

Three thematic posts will follow…

Fumetterni 2016

The first of post-Summer conventions and fairs. Too many to post all together here, so I’m accumulating a constant late with reports. But Winter is a less crowded period, so one event post every week is the rule.

By the people of the comic-shop that I spoke about some months ago. They have organised previous editions of this comic fair, but after a year without one, this time it was in a new location.

Various rooms and pavilions among a sporting centre. Three days and a lot of people for a peripheral place as Terni.

Comics and gadgets. And some vintage action figures.

But the main organiser is very involved in comic world so there was a large section about comic, as a exhibit and conferences. It was not the classical comic fair based on cosplay to attract people.

And there was an artist alley with many artists of national and international fame.

There was a room dedicated to games, as wargames, retro-videogames and boardgames. And here we can find our mate Sergio, of Song of Drums and Shakos fame, and his long term passion: Subbuteo.

He is a Subbuteo collector too. Here all kinds of football players with their production years.

And a rare Subbuteo rugby version. The brown cupola is to determine where the ball is out from a scrum.

Ganesha Games was there with his stand, as usual.

Ferrum et Gloria was present too with his small tin-arena. Waiting to show the new Faustus Furius convention set.

ThreeA Marvels

Action figures are toys for adults with prices only for adults. I own something, but I’m not a collector due to money and space problems. However when I found some interesting items I share them.

ThreeA by Ashley Wood is my preferred label. I have got a couple of 1/12 robots and his comics. Nowadays they are realising some 1/6 action figures based on Marvel characters. As Spider-Man.

Another one was Iron-Man, 4 versions. Limited edition, so or you buy them quickly at obscene prices or you will buy them after at outrageous obscene prices.
