Bar & beverages?

And now something different. Well, it is not so true, because it is another report from the Fair of Rome. In the past I had delight you with other fairs as Hobby Show or Pabogel. They aren’t fairs about games but I have a special pass for a free entry even in business fairs for selected people, so I sometime go to see what seems interesting.

This fair was about bar & beverages opened only for operators of the sector. It could be an opportunity to eat and drink a lot for free! The plan was to impersonate restaurant owners to taste food. So I called some friends of mine and we went to this place. But none were around. The moon landscape of the Fair of Rome seemed empty. The pavilion was proposed with a dark atmosphere, with only big screens to light the scene. Some extremely beautiful hostesses were walking around in their mini-skirts with nothing to do. Some waders and jugglers played for a few people. Only a couple of stands or a little more had something to taste. Some stands were abandoned to their own because of the fiasco. To scrounge a Carlsberg from an annoyed person was not a decent thing to do, so we quickly leave the fair for our homes. Pity!

I haven’t photos of the hostesses so I propose this one about Smurf popcorns! I took it in a cinema. It is weird enough. I don’t know the taste.

Hobby show 2011

Do you remember my magic card for the fair of Rome? Even this time I went to a convention with free entry just for me. I was waiting for this event since last year because I never saw it and it is about bricolage, so I hope there were some interesting things for modelling and our little world of 3d wargame.

I made a mistake indeed. This is not a fair about “hobbies” but a fair about “women hobbies”. So you could find all about DIY necklaces, blankets, bags, decorations and all these sort of things. Last time I controlled I was a man, so all were a little boring. I looked for something for miniatures, but I couldn’t find something to buy. There were some things to watch, interesting techniques for decoration, paints with special properties, but I didn’t find them useful for me. The weird thing were decorations with a food appearance and food with a decoration appearance, so you didn’t know if some stuff were edible or not. There were even edible colours in a form of pen you can utilise to write on cakes.

The only thing that really struck me was a sculpt demonstration for fairies statuettes. She made its with the same production process of a miniature, adding a sort of green stuff (more like clay I think) on a skeleton made of soft iron wire. Great artistic work but for a wrong cause: fairies are for puffs, we want warriors instead!

I travelled with my sister to the fair, after two hours I left while she remained for other four hours. I took the train alone, but four ladies from other cities in the south of Italy were frightened by how to travel toward home so I escorted them for an hour. In the meantime, in another part of the city, someone was thanking our government for its work…

Japanese market

This is Christmas time, or better, it is gift time! Here in Roma there are a lot of Christmas markets without soul, always the same stuff, all is equal on every counter.
There is a traditional market in Piazza Navona too, also knew abroad, but every year I ask to myself why it is so boring. Apart from the Christmas decorations, the other things are poor toys and sad caravan games from amusement parks. And the atmosphere is tired. The only fun element is when someone sells, undisturbed under police eyes, prohibited articles as illegal firecrackers or danger toys.
Since a couple of years there is a Japanese market in Rome too.

This market runs for only a day every three months. It was started by two brothers from Japan who have opened a shop. It collects young vendors with the passion of Japan and obviously some of them are from Japan. You can find Japanese items as bento or gashapoon, but there are even things made here with a Japan feel in them. Italians love Japan and its culture, as Japanese love Italy and its culture.

There is second hand stuff or articles privately bought by mail in Japan.

You can find articles to decorate your room, and handcrafted stuff at most. Even handcrafted jewels for girls.

A joy are these items decorated like cakes, with chocolate and whipped cream. I had hungry after I saw them. Fortunately there was a stand with some Japanese food. I ate a sweet with beans cream as in Doreamon animes.

There were cosplayers too. Every occasion is good to be dressed like a manga! And there was stuff for Gothic Lolitas too. Apparently not so Japanese, but you have to remember that this culture is from Japan.

I bought some gifts for my female friends. I think I return here the next market.

+ libri + liberi + veganriot

+ libri + liberi

+ Libri + Liberi (more books more freedom) is a manifestation about books from small publishers. They are almost 6-7 years that this manifestation is holding in Rome. It is an occasion to know publishers out of their regional borders (there is always a interesting Sardinian presence, but they aren’t the only ones) and buy a pile of book that you cannot easily find in bookshops. And for publishers an occasion to meet readers and know the tendency of the market. This is the first time with a section on ebooks. The world is changing…

+ libri + liberi

I spent half of the day with my friend Franci (she is pretty, isn’t she?) along the shelves. I bought a book with photos of Gladiator relieves and one about an Italian medieval treatise on sword fighting. I even added two small books on the underground Pitagoric temple in Rome and on Costantine’s arch.

+ libri + liberi

This building was intended for the universal exposition of Rome in 1942 (EUR1942). Wrong year to organise something. It maintains the architectural style of Fascism together with the later ’50 style.

veganriot

In the evening there was another presentation (with buffet) of a book on vegan recipes written by two friends of mine: Paolo e Alessandra, just married a year ago!

Some food before hungry devastated all! All you can eat for only 10 euros. And the evening went on chatting with friends.

Pabogel

pabogel

I have got a magic card that open the doors of exclusive fairs. This one (3 hangars big) is about bread, ice-cream, pizza, fried foods and all these sort of things. https://www.pabogel-expo.com/

pabogel Entry at 30euros, but me, erPetra and erMandola swarm inside for free. And free were a lot of food. We start with ice-cream, than coffee, pizza at industrial rates, mozzarella di bufala, fried and coffee again. Without shame.
This fair is for people into the restaurant business and it is a good opportunity to know what is on the market.
An international competition about pizza makers was on and pizzas were cooked continually. I wished I had 4 stomachs. All good food.
Some fun things: at a Neapolitan cafeteria 2 girls were showing their outriggers in an outrageous way to make taste a type of coffee; another Neapolitans showed ovens with a microphone like if they were on a market; one label of prepared food for restaurants have a delicate and beautiful girl at the bench and a gigantic photo of a bikini girl on the advertising after her; some fried food was ugly; rotating ovens for pizza cooked with wood; electric boilers for pasta to cook in bars; a competition on acrobatic pizza was on but I hope that I never eat something so handed!

Enada & Eas 2010

Again in Fiera di Roma (but it is in nowhere land, not Rome…). This time with another friend of mine for Enada (show about slot-machine, videogames and other items for entertainment) and Eas (attraction machines). Two international shows in the same place, five hangars to contain the exposition. The access is only for specialized people interested in this business. The ticket is 20euros and the parking is 6euros…

Enada & Eas

enada & eas

Too many videopoker machines and only a few videogames this time. People like more to throw away money than have fun. A very sad thing. In these years I have saw a lot of zombies attached to these machines to spend their days…

enada & eas

Eas is about machines for fun-fairs. There were a lot of Germans because those places are popular in those lands. The new sensation is cinema with moving chairs and 3D screens. They were calling this “4D cinema” or “5D cinema”. How many dimensions!

enada & eas

Only a few flippers remain. An archaeological vision from the past.

enada & eas

The only videogames presented were practically based on the idea of shooting something on the screen with huge arms.

enada & eas

Everyone can buy a Playstation, so this market is narrowed to things that you cannot experience at home. Like this Vulcan machine-gun. A huge shooting machine indeed! And with rotating barrels while you fire!

enada & eas

Even the vintage is a shooting dream…

enada & eas

Free games were available, no coins were necessary. I killed a lot of enemies and when I was dead only a button to push to have a new life in the ongoing game. Here I used two electronic machine-guns made of plastic. Better of Rambo!

enada & easenada & eas

My friend Paolo instead liked to ride a motorcycle…

enada & eas

A good show, but we hadn’t the intention to open a fun-fair, so it was only a view on this entertainment world.
