Hellana 2017

Hellana is one of the most important wargame convention in Italy. I go there almost every year since 2004. And as Ganesha Games we have one or more tables where to present new games and to distribute our stuff. What to say more? Look at tables, games and miniatures. At the end new Mirlinton production.

An harbour and a goth WH40k dungeon by those crazy people that demo games with an high alcohol rate in their blood.

Mounting of one of Genovese’s miniature dioramas.

Empoli Games 2016: second part

After an overview of what was around, in this post close-ups on miniatures in Empoli Games.

A kit for a temple in 1/72 scale. I have to do something just like this in 28mm. One year or another.

Always in 1/72 scale, some gods.

Why I need a temple? To put decency to a terrain with this kind of troops. Large amounts of ancients…

Skirmish with Japanese people. By a comrade of military service times, then a wargamer.

I know little about this epoch but something as this one let me a desire to know more.

Masses and a terrain like a military map. Large scale wargame at its best.

MDF changes wargames terrains. Far West with a lot of wood as it seems to was.

Building a Ratte. A lot of plastic instead of steel.

Beautiful and dirty Shermans on sale. I must build one for the Battle of Rome.

A scene from the war in Africa. With Folgore artillery.

WWI and treches.

Russians want to conquest a Lidl store (on the top at centre in the photo)

Italian tanks in Italy.

A lot of Germans and a Stuka above.

More of the same war but in a colder place.

To end, a bunch of Orks.

Fumetterni 2016

The first of post-Summer conventions and fairs. Too many to post all together here, so I’m accumulating a constant late with reports. But Winter is a less crowded period, so one event post every week is the rule.

By the people of the comic-shop that I spoke about some months ago. They have organised previous editions of this comic fair, but after a year without one, this time it was in a new location.

Various rooms and pavilions among a sporting centre. Three days and a lot of people for a peripheral place as Terni.

Comics and gadgets. And some vintage action figures.

But the main organiser is very involved in comic world so there was a large section about comic, as a exhibit and conferences. It was not the classical comic fair based on cosplay to attract people.

And there was an artist alley with many artists of national and international fame.

There was a room dedicated to games, as wargames, retro-videogames and boardgames. And here we can find our mate Sergio, of Song of Drums and Shakos fame, and his long term passion: Subbuteo.

He is a Subbuteo collector too. Here all kinds of football players with their production years.

And a rare Subbuteo rugby version. The brown cupola is to determine where the ball is out from a scrum.

Ganesha Games was there with his stand, as usual.

Ferrum et Gloria was present too with his small tin-arena. Waiting to show the new Faustus Furius convention set.

ThreeA Marvels

Action figures are toys for adults with prices only for adults. I own something, but I’m not a collector due to money and space problems. However when I found some interesting items I share them.

ThreeA by Ashley Wood is my preferred label. I have got a couple of 1/12 robots and his comics. Nowadays they are realising some 1/6 action figures based on Marvel characters. As Spider-Man.

Another one was Iron-Man, 4 versions. Limited edition, so or you buy them quickly at obscene prices or you will buy them after at outrageous obscene prices.

Memento Mori comic

If you think that 1/6 action figures are expensive and that building a scenario for them is something impossible due to space issues, you don’t know the Memento Mori web comic. It is a Roman story made of photos of customised action figures, a lot of them. So you can call it photo story book instead of comic book. It is still in development, even if in the last times I think that new work lacks. However we are speaking of 223 pages at the present. With a cast of 95 figures and lots of extras. Think to the effort, economic and artistic to realise it. Epic!

Read the story of these people made of plastic but with human passions, free on the web on Memento Mori web site.

Militaria Ergife spring 2016

Among other things I’m a militaria collector too. I focus on WWII Folgore items to act as reenactor for Folgore historical group. There are a lot of militaria shows and this is the bigger and nearer in my area.

Here some items of a friend of mine. Some are materials founded with a metal-detector.

Another view of the fair. Collectors are buyers too. And lots efforts are made to buy something and then sell it for a better or newer thing. You can make a profession of it, but I think the main goal is to reach real pieces of history in your hand. Prices are generally important so every trade is not a simple one. I even found a lot of interesting books, but I applied the formula “or all or none”. So I postpone purchasing to a late time, when I will have more money than now.

Daggers and medals: memories of past killings.

A desert kubelwagon it is always a pleasant view.

And now a couple of customised 1/6 action figures on Folgore theme.

To close, some young models with a standard of a fascist feminine group and helmets from another age. I think that they don’t know what these things were. A photo was took at every stand. They were advertising a power drink and their model school, I suppose. And more beautiful girls with high heels were in the fair. So you had to decide what to watch, or military items or something else. A difficult choice, indeed.

Hellana 2016

A new location, an old convention: Hellana. Here again, year after year. But this time I didn’t bring with me gladiators. Moreover I wasn’t interested in tournaments. So only chatting with people about our lives and little soldiers.

Maybe the new location is a little larger than the old one. More space among tables.

One of the tables. A pause in the war.

Another view on tables. In the crowd a lot of known faces.

Le Granadier and its Napoleonic rules.

People from Macerata. And little people from North Indian Wars.

Flames of War tournament.

DBA 3.0 tournament. Old faces from North clubs involved in DBA. The South clubs now are on L’Art de la Guerre.

Learning table to play with L’Art de la Guerre.

WA.SP. table on WWII. They won a prize for it.

Beautiful trenches for WH40K.

The South and the North at distance.

The best of show scenario. Glamorous vessels here.

Canyons made of bark for a western scenario with Redskins and U.S. forces.

Roman legion stand strongly against cataphracts. In 28mm scale.

Civil war at the end of the Empire. In 1/72 scale. Magna Acies rules by Appius.

Ganesha Games table with Andrea and Miraz.

Advanced Song of Blades and Heroes table in a dungeon scenario.

Cute scenario for Heel Creek, the Ganesha Games’ western rules. Still only in Italian language.

The prize as best participation table for Heel Creek.

Next year another Hellana. I hope I present something new for the event. However this weekend we are going to Modena Play. A longer trip than Hellana one, for an huge convention about boardgames and other kinds of games. See you there!
