DBA Arezzo 2010

Another appointment for DBA Italian Championship! And today is 10-10-10…

dba arezzo 2010

This is the last tournament for this year to me. There will be another in Milano, but I am too tired to trip around Italy for DBA. In the past I play in almost all the events, I was one of the most frequent players in the championship.

dba arezzo 2010

A beautiful day, a lot of friends come to a comic shop in Arezzo. Not only an occasion to play but the periodic moment to speak of miniatures and rules (and common life) with the chaps of DBA, a community together since 2003. And the usual dinner. The restaurant was the same of the last time (some months ago we play in Arezzo a SDS tournament) but there wasn’t the Sardinian cooking (with his bombastic black waiter), instead we found a Tuscan cooking at his start. Huge helpings!

The games are done. The 2010 Italian champion is Gasbarri with a tournament in advance.

Usually I take all the pictures of the tournaments. This time I lend my camera to a friend but something didn’t work. Only a few pics were taken. You can see them on DBA Italia website.

dba arezzo 2010

This time I have bad luck and I show lack of skill. No preparation bring to no success. I have never top results, but I could always say something to my opponents: at the European Championship in Rome last year I achieved the 5° position.

Interscambio

Yesterday the fun-fairs and today a fair about model railways: Interscambio. And tomorrow a tournament!

interscambio

A typical periodic market for model railways inside an hotel hall. Well, this is a school, but it is the same.

interscambio

You can find used and new models, together with a little mix of cars, tanks, action figures and even some painted Napoleonic 28mm.

interscambio

Here some resin vehicles in HO (1:87) about public transport of my city.

interscambio

They aren’t the modern ones but I like the feel of the past. I haven’t a car, so my movement around the city is all by public transports. So I’m not nostalgic about cars but about buses, trams and metros!

interscambio

You can find a lot of stuff for your landscapes, but they are all in the wrong scale. But what can you do with these beautiful building if you have 15mm or 28mm soldiers? The only possibility is for your plastic soldiers, but they are 20mm (1:72) or 22mm (nowadays tall 20mm…) and HO (1:87) is too small. TT scale is 1:100 and compatible with 15mm, but you cannot find it around.

interscambio

My friend Paolo Blasi is building a huge set for his game Meka. All his giant robots are in 1:144 scale, so the ideal for a landscape is the N scale (1:144) railway kits! He has bought a lot of Japanese model kits in N scale and more are inside his projects. You can find all this in his blog Roninclan (see the link on the right side).

interscambio

In the upper photo you can see parts in N and HO scale. Among them bins and cars, like a N scale Fiat500 and Ape. I have got a surprise for my friend game…

interscambio

Here we have a circuit in Z scale (1:220). You can put a lot of railways inside a 100x60cm rectangle. Very useful and handy. And this specific circuit is controlled by a dedicated touch-screen with infrared sensors.

interscambio

Something a little bigger in H0 scale. Not for your kitchen…

interscambio

The convoys are very long, like the real ones. Lights inside wagons and smoke from chimney-pots. But the diorama is based on the Tirol landscape, typically for a model railway. We are in Italy instead and I hate to see these people green shorts dressed and these wood houses. But the makers of railway kits are almost all German and we can find only kits with a Tirol feel…

Enada & Eas 2010

Again in Fiera di Roma (but it is in nowhere land, not Rome…). This time with another friend of mine for Enada (show about slot-machine, videogames and other items for entertainment) and Eas (attraction machines). Two international shows in the same place, five hangars to contain the exposition. The access is only for specialized people interested in this business. The ticket is 20euros and the parking is 6euros…

Enada & Eas

enada & eas

Too many videopoker machines and only a few videogames this time. People like more to throw away money than have fun. A very sad thing. In these years I have saw a lot of zombies attached to these machines to spend their days…

enada & eas

Eas is about machines for fun-fairs. There were a lot of Germans because those places are popular in those lands. The new sensation is cinema with moving chairs and 3D screens. They were calling this “4D cinema” or “5D cinema”. How many dimensions!

enada & eas

Only a few flippers remain. An archaeological vision from the past.

enada & eas

The only videogames presented were practically based on the idea of shooting something on the screen with huge arms.

enada & eas

Everyone can buy a Playstation, so this market is narrowed to things that you cannot experience at home. Like this Vulcan machine-gun. A huge shooting machine indeed! And with rotating barrels while you fire!

enada & eas

Even the vintage is a shooting dream…

enada & eas

Free games were available, no coins were necessary. I killed a lot of enemies and when I was dead only a button to push to have a new life in the ongoing game. Here I used two electronic machine-guns made of plastic. Better of Rambo!

enada & easenada & eas

My friend Paolo instead liked to ride a motorcycle…

enada & eas

A good show, but we hadn’t the intention to open a fun-fair, so it was only a view on this entertainment world.

romicsromics

Exhibitionism is the new trend in comics field… I like this, even if I would prefer that all this was in my younger age. At that time, only men read comics…

romics

Comics… There were even comics… My friend Andrea among them!
