Prague 2018: Pranks [part08]

These people have a weird humour. Here some examples. First thing, to put pinapple over a pizza.

Graphic rules. They want to dictate what you can or cannot do. In details.

This was in a cemetery. Is it useful to remind that inside is prohibited to inject drugs or to skate? And absolutely forbidden to destroy vegetation or tombs? However beware to transport suitcases inside a cemetery because it is normal that there are thieves ready to steal them.

How have fun during a universal exposition: deformed looking glasses. From their show in 1891 they saved this room and a small Eiffel tower replica.

How to put fun and realism inside your dioramas: wreckages, car crashes, animals at the large, death.

To end, how to use a window to start a war: 1618.

Prague 2018: Walk around [part01]

During the winter, with rain and cold, people think about their next vacation in a warmer season. In the meantime here there is the report of my last vacation, the first real trip after the money drop due to my house buying.

Prague is a beautiful city in the middle of Europe, with a Slavic and German feel. Usually people go to Prague for a short trip, a weekend based on romantic views, beer and sex. We stayed for a week, and we based our trip on culture and historical views, instead. Prague is so perfect that it seems a fake city. There is a Disneyland feel that emerges from the tourist setting of the all the city centre: you can’t find real shops but only tourist ones, and this for miles and miles. Its soul is corrupted by tourist traps. Lots of historical things to see but you can find even fake historical things. Three vax museums at short distance are a sign of what I’m saying. However we had great moments and there are some posts about them. Here the first with an overview.

Romics – april 2018

Two times every year, the comic fair of Rome. I can’t ideate new descriptions for it. It is always more huge, but the available money to people is always less and so this was the Roman fair with less profits for vendors. However here I helped the economy to rise. I feel as a patriot.

A portrait in manga style for me and my friend Paolo.

If female cosplayers were not sexy enough, the new sensation for comic fairs is body art. Young women in pants and paints. Oh boy…

Streetfood near my street

And now something different! In last times there is an attention to street food as a peculiar kind of nutrition. It is low-cost, fast and different from usual. However we are Italians so our street food culture is great and all taste very good. Now it is very frequent to see temporary street food markets. This was near where I live (you can recognise it as a set in “La dolce vita” film). The opportunity to eat things that you didn’t think that existed.

Romics – october 2017

Two times every year, this is an appointment that I don’t want to miss. As the same I go here in the less overcrowded day of the convention. I find some comics that I didn’t pick up previously, a lot of gadgets (as Funko), and a day immersed in one of my principal interests. And in the last years it is even the moment to taste weird foods and beverages from Asia, and a big slice of pizza with mortazza.

Romics – april 2017

Time travel. There were two more Romics editions after this one. Always the same story about backlog of posts. However we had fun at time. It is the excuse to buy comics, gadgets. And to taste strange foods and drinks from Asia. And to watch beautiful female cosplayers. We visit Romics during an entire day from the open to the closure, always in the less overcrowded day.

Due to Romics links with Japan we had the visit of Yoshiyuki Tomino, the man behind Gundam.

At the end an image of my friend Paolo together with his nephew, a eclectic cosplayer.

Weekend with bunnies

I’m returned from Lucca. Still alive, almost. New adventures are waiting us, but now it is better to narrate the old ones. As this long weekend with Andrea in Rome. The time to do something related to miniatures and something different.

In spare time we dedicated our efforts in playtesting for Ganesha Games. Now I have got a real 180×120 table to use over my kitchen table. The test was so even for the new table.

The Friday night we had a presentation of the new edition of the class on game writing. Together with Andrea another Andrea, of Wing of War fame.

We were in a museum of modern art where once a month they organise Macro Games Night. Inside the museum restaurant, people can eat, and then play with boardgames and wargames. A great suggestive location, a terrace in the middle of building built at the start of 1900. Young people everywhere, a lot of games. I haven’t photos of that night, pity.

The day after, in the first afternoon we played a game of Rogue Stars with the restaurant owners. We used one of the tables for buffet. Note dishes and cutlery under it.

The Saturday night we tasted in a new shop near my house a Chinese delicatessen: bubble tea. It is really weird, but I can taste it here instead to go to Taiwan. So I save a lot of money.

And Sunday was the day for a fair about bunnies. Their owners have an occasion to meet and to present real field to their little friends.

How to test your bunny with a high hurdles if bunnies are not interested in high hurdles?

To end, a photo of a really nice chap.

Playtest, demo and class

Here the report of a long weekend with Andrea in Rome at my new, and still almost empty, house. We rallied a lot of things and events in 4 days. To begin, we held some playtests about next Ganesha games. This one is about mutant apes.

And this one is about that old project that we are developing through these last years. Maybe this one is the final effort. However we are speaking about 2017.

Other things were tested and other ideas were submitted. Diego join us for a couple of half days and this is a moment of relax in a patisserie.

We passed the Friday night at a game shop in the opposite part of Rome. Andrea presented his kind of games with a demo of Advanced Song of Blade and Heroes.

Here the Mjolnir shop and an exposition of Ganesha Games books. They are too much to show, indeed. Free apple pie for everyone. However chatting went from Friday to the first hours of Saturday…

Saturday afternoon was the time for the class on game design. In this photo Andrea seems a priest on a pulpit.

After the lesson, a direct check to the game projects of the people. There are very different ideas and kinds of games, with Andrea and the organisers that are trying to address them to their realisation.

And the Sunday was the time for Romics. But that is another post…
