Fabrik Manager + Senji

The 14th I played a boardgame session with my chaps Paolo and Francesca. It was a lot of time that Franci wanted to play something at her house but I had too many tournaments and conventions. We had the classical game afternoon fuelled by popcorns, 500gr of crisps, cocacola and pizza (for dinner).

fabrik manager

I enjoyed my game with Fabrik Manager. It is a German game with an original industrial set. You must manager a factory and you win if you have more money than others after the last turn. I’m very good with games where there is to save money! Well, this game is very interesting, everyone has a platform that is his factory and you must progress with the production. You must buy resources to produce goods in a better and bigger way, and these tiles are chose with a strategy by the players.

fabrik manager senji

After the building of production in factories we set a game with Senji in feudal Japan. It is a sort of better Risiko with diplomacy and trade driven by cards. A sandglass beat the time to this phase so you haven’t too much empty time for the exchange of cards between players.

senji

I think this game is better with more than 3 people, 5 people maybe is the best, but I fear the game flux slow a bit with more than 3 players. However it has some countermeasure to bring the Risiko concept inside a better set with more calibrated rules and other strategies to win besides mindless and endless war. Throw away Risiko and play Senji!

senji

I win the two games with secure victories. I understand quickly what to do to win. Easy but not stupid games, and overall a happy afternoon.

Le Grenadier club

During the day of the DBA tournment in Labaro, Diego showed the SDS rules to the other players. They set a game and this try got a good response. Maybe in the future we will have more SDS players in the area.

le grenadier club

Le Grenadier is an old club. They play Napoleonic games at most and Di Bartolo and his wife are reneactors of this era too. Their place is big, not humid and with all the services. Two big tables are in the room and there is space for more. The only bad thing is the urban wildness of the surroundings! They have a secret address and Napoleonic minis in a specific cabinet and wine boxes. They have minis even in the bathroom. Years of years of collecting and painting minis. Highest quality here, and all historically correct.
Here I put some of their beautiful collection to raise your envy!

DBA in Labaro

Today we were in Labaro, Rome. But I don’t believe in this “Rome” fact because it is an area outside the urban context, a nowhere land built on a hill outside the GRA, the psychological border of Rome. And the weather was frightening, on the return way we guided only with memory blinded by a wall of water that fell from the sky. Besides this we had a good day inside Le Grenadier club, with a splendid reception by Di Bartolo and his wife (the lunch prepared by her was huge and all meat based).

dba in labaro

A DBA tournament was set, only for eight people from Rome, in the club, a special event with the lists of the Milan tournament disputed two weeks before: a post Alexander set. If you cannot go to Milan, Milan go to you!

This time I had a better result than last months: 2 won 2 lost. Paolo, for his return to DBA after 2 years, win the day.

Lucca 2010: Ferrum et Gloria

This is the last post about Lucca. Wow, I wanted to publish only some pics but instead I covered all the event with 14 posts! And to make this I spent a lot of time. I don’t want to pass all my time on this blog, I have other things to do! I had so much fun in Lucca and I wished to show you the feel that remains in me. From the last year, when I stayed in Lucca only a day, I wanted to stay the full period of the convention. I waited an entire year, so this was very important to me.

lucca 2010

My game was present in Lucca too. I took with me the miniatures, the rules and my portable arena! Lucca games was so huge that I think only a few noted me and my fighters. Another time I must bring with me some hostesses undressed like female gladiators and it will be a full success.

I presented the game but I’m still not full ready with the rules and the heat and the chaos were not the best situation to explain it. It was only a taste of water. I was in Lucca too and this is the important thing.

Lucca 2010: Atomic Rocket

lucca 2010

Atomic Rocket is a multimedia project by two friends of mine. It is all about a fictional Italian comic group in late sixties of the past century. Their productions were on weird super-heroes, mixed with Italian noir comics style, full of sex and violence. Some comics was made by photos as you can see on these covers.

I participate with ideas and writing, some concepts are mine, in their fist comic book there is an introduction re-wrote by me. I wish to be part of all this but I have no time, I’m very sorry.

I’m very proud of this project, my friends are doing a great work! In the real life they are not super heroes but a graphic designer and video maker (Francesco Brunotti, on the left) and a scene designer (Roberto Papi, on the right).

I hope they can have a good result like the Lucca one, where they sold a lot at their stand and were contacted by people of comic and fashion fields.
