Romics – april 2018

Two times every year, the comic fair of Rome. I can’t ideate new descriptions for it. It is always more huge, but the available money to people is always less and so this was the Roman fair with less profits for vendors. However here I helped the economy to rise. I feel as a patriot.

A portrait in manga style for me and my friend Paolo.

If female cosplayers were not sexy enough, the new sensation for comic fairs is body art. Young women in pants and paints. Oh boy…

Autori In Gioco 2018

Playtests are the only form of games that I play. Here while we are testing dungeons for miniatures.

The card game about missing cats with its luxury original artwork.

And now a convention only for people who wants to show their games to propose them to editors and to playtesters. In this order. It was located inside a sort of hospice with a section for people who suffers of Alzheimer. On the other side of the road the Italian centre of secret services. Yes, it is weird. However some games were weird too.

And here to hunt some witches.

An original idea from some friend of ours. I hope to see this game published when it will be developed in its final form.

More weirdness in the coatroom: Christ of the crutches.

Lucca C&G 2017: Cosplay [part09]

A shorter series of posts than before. After all these years I can’t repeat myself. I can only say that it is one of the best moments of the year according to me. There are a lot of things to view in Lucca Comics & Games, I published here only 134 photos. I cannot put all here inside. And now, as usual, the best phase of these reports: cosplayers, with a obvious preference for female ones.

See you around the first of November for another edition of this appointment.

Nagai and Tomino creations in Lucca Comics & Games were present as idols of the Japanese giant robots religion spread by anime on TV. I feel that I need some votive statues with them. I have some Tomino pieces of his pantheon in my house but none of Nagai ones. This could be heresy.

A short review of some of the millions of statuettes, gadgets, models, action figures and similars that were around. You can find sexy things, perfect painted figures, auto-built models for modelling contests, rainbow Star Wars AT-AT made with Lego, giant Giger’s alien made with mechanical parts, Doraemon mesh-ups with animals, Marvel superheroes mesh-upped as samurai, giant dioramas with Marvel superheroes that you cannot put inside a normal house. Huge quantities of money is not always the problem, it is the available space the only limit to buy them.

Lucca C&G 2017: Computers [part06]

Videogames are a business so big that move more money than cinema. Before this was only a section of the Games pavilion, after they are exploded in various pavilions among the city. I’m not so interested in videogames but I’m a computer freak so these customised and powered machines are as porno for me. This remind me that my computer needs more neon lights inside…

Sometimes you can forget that this is fundamentally a comic fair. It is not so iconic to take photos of book spines. Moreover cosplayers are better descriptive. However this time some signing and sketch session photos for you.

Paolo Bacilieri is one of my favourites. He is a modern and experimental artist but with solid education by Milo Manara studio.

And an help for younger Bacilieri was Palumbo. He is another favourites of mine. His style is a black & white with touches of classic art mediate by experience as an experimental comics militant.

And many more for my friend Paolo.

Some close-ups on miniatures in Lucca Comics & Games.

Up there is Nano Nefasto with his bust before his 5 days live painting session during the convention.
Below there is the glass showcase for the painting contest.

Torriani’s WWII game and its delicious setting.

Miniature displays.

Andrea’s things.

Miniatures from an Andrea sketch that were realised with the Fungi kickstarter. The character, but not the pig, resembles Andrea when he was young. Other people that run a miniatures demonstration space in Miniature Island liked the miniatures and created a game with some of them: a fantasy medieval race. They didn’t know that we were the maker of them.

A close-up on Star Eagles.

Two playable mascots of Miniature Island and a cake in Orti di Elisa restaurant. This year restaurant theme for the convention was Mario Bros.

In Lucca Comics & Games all is so big that some miniatures that you can view on wargame tables were a little bigger than usual.
