70° Sbarco di Nettunia

I was waiting this event for a couple of years. I thought that, for an important anniversary as the landing on Anzio and Nettuno beaches, great things could be done. Instead, at the noon of the day before, I was informed about the dismiss of the participation of our representative group of the national army paratroopers association. Various problems with the organiser of the Anzio event (another one were held in the neighbour Nettuno) made we thought about boycott or clear malpractice. I went privately only the Sunday to watch the two events.

This is the new monument in Anzio.

The war cemetery for Italian Army soldiers that fought against Allies on this front. The X shape is for the X° MAS, one of the Italian combat groups.

Some objects in a museum. On the right some items from Italian paratroopers on this front.

An helmet with shells from years in the sea.

A pan made with a German helmet.

An absolute great diorama on the Anzio harbour.

The Italian Garibaldi aircraft carrier.

Part of Forte San Gallo on the beach in Nettuno.

Some reeneactors as American soldiers in Anzio.

Some reenactors as Germans and Italians in Anzio. Some were not so believable and with wrong uniforms.

Lucca C&G 2013: statuettes

If you want to find something to put on your desk or bookshelf, Lucca C&G is the best place. You only need money and space.

To start something from USA, some Marvel characters form the Planet Hulk storyline I think.

The main current is obviously the Japan one. Gashapons are the more common gadgets around.

Another kind of gadget are statuettes. They are not at bargain prices but they are very beautiful and bigger than gashapons. And with sexy elements. A lot of. Follow a gallery.

Evangelion is a famous anime and its female characters are now established erotic iconic characters for otaku. Rei Ayanami with her blue hair is so loved that is a common view among cosplayers and statuettes.

A collection of statuettes of Rei!

In a swimsuit.

Over the erotic, there is porno! Moreover there is a bondage part in it. A classic representation of Rei is wounded and bandaged.

All this sex in the visual elements means so scarce sex in real life. It is only a matter of mind.

Pillowcases for pillows to hug. Same matter. But vendors thought to censure them in strategic points with some pieces of paper… Decency…

Lucca C&G 2013: mecha modelling

Inside the Japan Palace there is the NKGC modelling competition. You have saw the little Gundam models exposition but there is even this section with lots of interesting models. This is the Yamato from space.

Ma.K. are always a must for modellers.

The best in the futuristic race contest.

Kallamity is the label under Luca Zampirolo makes its mecha art and resin models. Here while its signing with a sketch one small portfolio that I bought.

A Kallamity’s Garbaldy in the model contest. It is a Zion inspired model.

To end this mecha in Lucca post, some good classics from Japan.

Lucca C&G 2013: Japan palace

Since the explosion of the fair in the streets of Lucca (before it was inside an indoor sports arena, then with some pavilions added out of it) we have a palace dedicated to Japan stuff. It is called Japan Palace and this is the queue to enter in it!

Thanks to organisation I had a staff pass so I could enter quickly. Inside, on courtyards and two storeys, various stands related to Japan in various ways. Here a view at the 9 o’clock in the morning, at the opening. After It was almost impossible to walk.

A well known vendor specialised in kwai dresses.

More traditional stuff, but with a sexy touch. Japanese people love Italy, Italians love Japan.

Kokeshi. They are very cute.

Traditional Japanese curtains but with cats instead of humans.

Japanese sexuality is more complex than Italian and Occidental ones. They seem as perverts to us.

However these paintings are very beautiful. Next year we will have something different for this place because of overcrowding. Maybe there will be even a Japan district…

Lucca C&G 2013: Go Nagai

Obvious presence in the fair for something related to Go Nagai creations. This year there was the preview of a new line of models available in newspaper kiosks. They are in metal, previously painted and almost 14 centimetres high.

More detailed these plastic models. I like the flying fists a lot. I don’t know well the Mazinger with bat wings, more modern and demoniac versions of the old classics.

Gashapons are an easy and cheap gadget that you could find in the fair. Here some of Go Nagai’s giant robots. I wonder about all the female ones variations. I have to watch more anime and read more manga to know better…

The Lucca C&G report will follow the next year with 93 more photos!

Lucca C&G 2013: Gundam

Gunplay is the Bandai division for the promotion of Gundam modelling. In Lucca there is always an huge space for kit vendors and for a modelling contest.

Previously coloured versions. This is the weathered one. So it appears more as a real life model than a toy.

More versions of the hero. Always the same but different. You must have all…

Gloss metal finish…

Well, this is too much…

If the white fighter is the hero, I prefer the green enemy…

ZAKU is the best!!!

Part of its original family.

Here a Zaku involved with a big gun.

Scions of the original design, with the evolution for the neo Zion times, nazi helmet wearing…

Kit evolution, from 1980 to 1999. Better sculpt, better plastic models technology.

These Zaku were part of an exhibition about Gundam kit evolution during 30 years. Always the same design that evolve through times. Here in the red dress, but I ever prefer the green one, the trooper proud of Zion warriors.

This modelling contest by NKGC is always engaging. Here a diorama with the use of small figures from railway modelling.

One of the latest designs for the 0080 war. I like bulk mechas so much. I love it!

In the end, a war scene in the snow, like war on trenches, but with Zaku.

Ludica Roma 2013: modelling

In Ludica there were a painting competition and a lot of modellers, with stands and displays. I wish to show you some models that caught my eyes.

A Roman ship in 1/50 scale I think. You can add some 28mm miniatures, some other ships and that sort of things… to create a naval battle!

Italian transport ship during the WWII for amphibious assaults. If our high command was better, with these things we could capture Malta…

Italian assault ships: maiale, a torpedo for frogmen; barchino, a small motorboat with explosive warhead.

Ships from WWII Italian float. Still, if our high command was better we could obtain a lot of victories…

After real things a fictional one but based on WWII tanks, adding to them a mecha feel. So beautiful!

Ludica Roma 2013: overview

And now the report about Ludica Roma 2013 convention, at last! Three daysv in Rome, my city, full of what you desire about games. They were the 29th & 30th of November and the 1st of December. Here we go…

The convention was held in 4 pavilions. We were in this one dedicated to wargames and boardgames.

Some volunteers managed, with an explanation of rules, an area to play boardgames.

Other notable things: Rubik’s cube competitions as solutions with blinded eyes; painting laboratories; abstract boardgaming; Subbuteo.

Another pavilion, only for children. All kinds of games and experiences.

The modelling pavilion: cars, earth movers, trains, ships and more. The paradise of radio controlled models.

This rail modelling circuit is based about a road near where I live, at one of the external gates of Rome built inside one of the main Roman aqueducts. In this zone there was the Gothic camp during a siege of Rome during the Gothic Wars. Moreover here happened some fights against Allies by Italian soldiers in the defence of Rome in 1944.

Some vintage action figures in a vendor area in this pavilion.

The softair (and other ways to shooting people safety) and reenactment pavilion.

And after this “garibaldino” (a fighter of the independent and volunteer army who fought for the unification of Italy) I promise that I will continue with this report another day.
