Sometimes you can forget that this is fundamentally a comic fair. It is not so iconic to take photos of book spines. Moreover cosplayers are better descriptive. However this time some signing and sketch session photos for you.

Paolo Bacilieri is one of my favourites. He is a modern and experimental artist but with solid education by Milo Manara studio.

And an help for younger Bacilieri was Palumbo. He is another favourites of mine. His style is a black & white with touches of classic art mediate by experience as an experimental comics militant.

And many more for my friend Paolo.

Some close-ups on miniatures in Lucca Comics & Games.

Up there is Nano Nefasto with his bust before his 5 days live painting session during the convention.
Below there is the glass showcase for the painting contest.

Torriani’s WWII game and its delicious setting.

Miniature displays.

Andrea’s things.

Miniatures from an Andrea sketch that were realised with the Fungi kickstarter. The character, but not the pig, resembles Andrea when he was young. Other people that run a miniatures demonstration space in Miniature Island liked the miniatures and created a game with some of them: a fantasy medieval race. They didn’t know that we were the maker of them.

A close-up on Star Eagles.

Two playable mascots of Miniature Island and a cake in Orti di Elisa restaurant. This year restaurant theme for the convention was Mario Bros.

In Lucca Comics & Games all is so big that some miniatures that you can view on wargame tables were a little bigger than usual.

This year as Ganesha Games in Lucca Comics & Games we were three: I came from Rome, Andrea came from Terni, Damon came from Malaysia.

Damon presented his Star Eagles at Italians and this was a good chance to test some things.

I presented Palaeo Diet. After I thought to write a supplement for it because I think that it is a great game.

Andrea write too many books so he presented a lot of things: Four Against Darkness, Sellswords, Song of Armies and Hordes. And maybe something more.

And these chaps are our super fans. They always buy all our books and they enjoy the games very much. Thanks!

Lucca C&G 2017: Walk around [part01]

Yes, this is another series of posts about my annual Lucca Comics & Games experience. It was the start of November 2017 and I waited for it ALL the year. Every day a specific theme and lots of photos. This time a walk around to begin. And, if you don’t know what is this convention, look at these posts and to those of other years here on the blog. And think about a visit.

Disclaimer: almost all the photos on this blog are taken by me, however sometime I stole them from the web when I find something really interesting or I am too distracted by things to do instead to work as a reporter. This time I helped myself by photos from my friend Paolo, Damon, Bagna, Gioconomicon and others that now I can’t remind.

Sgurgola

My roots are from this little village at South of Rome, along the way to Magna Graecia. Not a Latin ground but the land of Hernici people.

I was born in Rome and this is only the place where I spent a couple of weeks every year as holidays during my childhood.

This is not more my place, my ground, my house. I feel a little sad about it.

Streetfood near my street

And now something different! In last times there is an attention to street food as a peculiar kind of nutrition. It is low-cost, fast and different from usual. However we are Italians so our street food culture is great and all taste very good. Now it is very frequent to see temporary street food markets. This was near where I live (you can recognise it as a set in “La dolce vita” film). The opportunity to eat things that you didn’t think that existed.

Romics – october 2017

Two times every year, this is an appointment that I don’t want to miss. As the same I go here in the less overcrowded day of the convention. I find some comics that I didn’t pick up previously, a lot of gadgets (as Funko), and a day immersed in one of my principal interests. And in the last years it is even the moment to taste weird foods and beverages from Asia, and a big slice of pizza with mortazza.
