Lucca C&G 2014: videos [part10]

Yeah, I know, Lucca Comics & Games was in November. However I think that these videos are beautiful because they show my preferred convention. So, while we are waiting the next November, we can watch what the past edition was. However there are exactly only 6 months from now to Lucca. So it’s time to think about what to do during those days. I hope I have some space for my wargame things. And usual gladiators are the same old thing. What to propose: or some new things as venationes or some new Ganesha Games game.

A view on cosplayers things, the most coloured aspect of the fair.

And this one is about wargames. Pity, there is not my personal area in it!!!

Romics spring: part 2

Another post for Romics 2015 spring edition. This one is dedicated only to statuettes and similar things. Sorry, no cosplay girls, they are more naked Saturday or Sunday. I visit the fair only Thursday. Here my friend Paolo with the present sensation about characters in a cute dolls format.

Kaustic Plastik was present with their last products. Pity, this time I have no money for this, but at the first opportunity I want to add a 1/6 gladiator to my personal collection.

Action figures for Ma.k.s. I need them. But more realistically maybe I could copy the idea of put nameplates under my 1/6 figures when I will realise their new installation in the new house.

In this showcase the best piece is the crossover between Doraemon and Captain America, two of my favourite comic characters.

An here Suppaman from Dr.Slump and Arale. A real superhero.

Statuettes, another form of comics fruition. And Japan ones are the most popular around.

A dark version of Rei Ayanami. I watched the anime films and I found them lacking of a logic in the storyline, so I can’t understand why they are so famous. However as imaginary are great.

Another crossover, but this time between cute girls, cute animals and cute WWII planes. Only Japanese minds could concept sometime like this.

Another Japanese passion: boobs. And something to give a strong character to your bookshelves.

More boobs.

Another vendor but same kind of boobs.

Boobs and something more.

Next Romics will be at the start of October.

Romics spring: part 1

The Roman comic convention Romics, spring edition. We went the first day as usual, a Thursday, taking a day off from work. It is the only way to avoid crowd. What is empty in these photos is full as a Roman public transport during other three days.

I’m a little sad because the first day only a few cosplayers are here. However you can watch the fair very better!

Dresses are a large part of the fair. Comics are only the motive for all is relate to them. Sometime who dress like a comic or a manga never read them, it is a concept that lives for itself.

Wigs are related to this world as if this would be a fair for hairstylists. It is not a scandal, it is the modern way to feel comics.

Japan dresses. Or better, something that can be taken for Japan dress. Japan is manga and anime. So this is the right place. Simple.

The ultimate match for your apparel. Select the best for you.

An innovation: a maid cafè! This is a group with female dancing waitresses too! An information booth was available for the fan club…

A Warzone cosplayer. This miniature game is still popular around.

Back to comics. Budget purchases were available around. I am attracted by ’70 comics, things that I couldn’t buy when I was a child because of small age and poor wage from parents.

Andrea was in Romics together with me. Two days after he went to Modena for the Italian game convention, Play Modena. Here while he is enjoying some original comic tables.

I said to myself that with an house I could buy some original to put on the walls. Now I have the house but not so much money to buy these things. And no free walls due to the large amount of books that I collected. Maybe after the refurbish works I will pick something…

Hellana 2015: part 2

And now always Hellana 2015 but with a view on Ganesha Games stuff. We had three tables. The first one with a Fightin’ Fungi preview. Miniatures aren’t the kickstarter ones, they are still in sculpting phase. Delivery is scheduled for June. Some items was sold by Andrea here.
The other table was about a new game with Old West rules. This project is based on SBH mechanics and is written in Italian language. So Andrea have to translate it in English before publication. Seeing the late about Ferrum et Gloria in English, I don’t know when we will see it.

This one is my table. Always the custom Playmobil arena. And an introductive Provocator scenario. I have to do something new for next events. On the left some Italian copies of the rules, and gladiator miniatures.

Inside the arena a preview of the two 75mm gladiator miniatures painted by Simoncini. I am trying to propose a gladiator fight with bigger pieces, using these two. A combat pair of a secutor versus a retiarius. I must build some kind of arena and measure sticks for the fight. However they are very fragile, so maybe I can’t transport them around for wargame conventions.

During the day I mastered a couple of demonstration games. It’s hard to follow two players. The game is not so easy for children, even if Simoncini play it with his child, and the child win always. In the other play, father versus son, the son was more brilliant with rules, but had very bad dice.

Hellana 2015: part 1

The Italian wargame convention of the Spring. It is the longest running convention here in Italy. I went the first time in 2004. This year we chose to go the day before, even for the change of the legal hour. It is almost 3/4 hour far from Rome. With this choice we had the opportunity to watch convention set works too. Diego’s car is in its last days, so our travel was offered by “Sua Eccellenza”. The return instead was by Minatore’s car. I took a nap during both travels…

In the evening a dinner with the local club members and vendors. All meat based, not so great for a not-meat, and not-wine, lover like me. Too much money spent, but a common meal with other wargame people is always a good thing. Night in a budget but fine hotel.

And so the convention day. A lot of familiar faces around. Inside a primary school gym, with vendors along the walls and demonstration tables in the middle.

This is the ARSM’s club game. ARSM is the club where Diego plays. Standing you can see “Sua Eccellenza”. With white hair, the other travel companion, a ferrets breeder.

This year is 200th Waterloo anniversary, and this is Waterloo game.

Siege and assault to a Japanese castle.

A year too late for D-Day, but still an enjoyable game.

A great Old West set-up.

Among other tables, this one with a large amount of 28mm miniatures. More tables around, but here I don’t pretend to show a full report.

Other things in Hellana were a FOW tournament and this one with DBA 3.0. This year I don’t play DBA, I haven’t mental energy to do it. However I’m always near to my tournament friends that play it.

Another Legio reunion

Easter was another opportunity for a Legio Palatina reunion. Luca is back from London thanks to UK holidays and his wife researches for the new annual edition of Rome guide book. Narciso had to work for my house but his laziness produce no effort to finish house blueprints. However he appeared for dinner. Diego instead was near his house. Evening in the local miniature shop. After pizza. Last drink in a roasted good store.

Squig fighting arena

Among my perpetual arenas proposal I want to show you something a little different, an arena for Squigs, in other words a fantasy biped creature composed of a head with a big mouth full of sharp teeth. We are in the GW’s Warhammer world, and these wild things are some kind of pets for Orks. Imagine a sort of all red and weird Warner Bros’ Tasmanian Devil.

However, I am showing to you this arena because it is particularly well done. And you can follow here the realisation from the initial draw to the final stage, passing through every phase. It could be very inspiring for your things, even from a technical view.

Some images about this arena. A mix of fantasy and science fiction for the rough Orks’ architecture.
