OGAM tournament in Macerata

More on the modelling fair in Macerata. On this post the focus is on miniature soldiers. In the photo you can find my mates Diego & Diego while they are looking for something to buy…

Some games were played around us. Here even a dungeon.

In the fair there was a chap that sculpt some lovely miniatures, but he didn’t know the world outside his region. Pity, he has great possibilities.

During these occasions you can found the same people from our circle, the vendors that trip around to sell wargaming related stuff. This is the lunch of the first day, before the opening of the fair. A fast but surprisingly good meal. Moreover that night our friends, that organised the fair, brought us to a wonderful restaurant on the hills around. Not so good the day after for the food, but the third day, in Col Fiorito on the way to home, we ate at an inn that we will remember for years to come.

Here our stand in the fair. A game of A Fistful of Kung Fu to refresh the rules in our minds.

Chillemi publisher’s stand. Speaking about some future collaboration.

I haven’t photos about the Of Gods And Mortals tournament. I have only this one about the winner of the third place, that curiously look as me. Even this year I have earned a cup, I can be pleased for the 2014.

Upcoming: La Storia per Gioco II

Sunday there will be the second edition of a wargame convention organised by my mate Narciso, “La Storia per Gioco” (History for games). It will be during a local country festival about asparagus agricultural production. We have programmed a mega-game for Of Gods And Mortals, and other games will be played. I hope to visit some archaeological and historical sites too. Food will be not a problem…

Pabogel 2014

My third time in Pa.Bo.Gel., a food fair for restaurateurs. I have got a free access but the entrance was 30 euro. Ovens, exposition fridges, pizza, fried, croissants, ice creams, beer, main dishes,… The great thing was the free great food for everyone at bulimic rates!!!

A pizza association without interruption took out pizza of the oven. Many other stands produced pizza for free. But you could find other food kinds. They were advertising ovens, schools, supplies for restaurants or restaurateurs associations.

The quality was overall because they are from the top of their class. Some contests were in action, like this one with a quaint quality jury.

Some chaps just entered in the fair saw this automatic machine for pizza and said:”great, a pizza to eat now for only one half euro”. They still didn’t know that in the fair they could take a bath with pizza…

A couple of elder people systematically filled up three bags with free food for the following days. Likewise I was with a mate of mine, eating what we could. But at the end, when people offered spontaneously more food to us, we declared a defeat. More and we could collapse.

Of Gods And Mortals – the website

This is not an April fool! Instead a new resource is available at this address: https://www.massimomoscarelli.it/ogam
It is the Of God And Mortals website! I made it, it is approved by Osprey Publishing and it is cured by Andrea Sfiligoi, the author of these mythological wargame rules. You can find on it: news about the game, game reports, miniatures and so on. And all the new materials to play: new pantheons (Inca, Japanese, Pre-Islamic Arabic so far, in the following Roman, Vudu, Aztec), more characters for the pantheons in the book (Celtic, Egyptian, Greek, Norse), tournament rules, Q&A, errata, a datasheet list builder and what we will think to add in the future. It is the website to support this engaging game with updated materials and news. Follow it and play with OGAM!

-3 to A Fistful of Kung Fu

Although it’s been more than a week that Northstar began to mail the copies of A Fistful of Kung Fu to customers, the official release date is the 18th of this month. Now I start a short countdown showing some photos about the playtest sessions happened more than a year ago.

This time an adventure among Chinese restaurant dishes. It was occurred in a pause of a more canonic playtest with miniatures and terrain. Playing a Kung Fu ruleset, what could be better than eating Chinese?

Unfortunately a form of food poisoning emerged from this playtest session. A specific ingredient used in this restaurant (maybe a preservative?) sends my immune system into haywire. My body was covered with a rash and an extreme itch impeded my normal activities. I needed more than a week, and lots of medication, to restore my skin to normality.

What I did the last month

I have a lot of things in my backlog, so I concentrate my efforts to show you the main wargame conventions of November. But even in December there were interesting things, like this couple of fairs: Più Libri Più Liberi (small book editors fair) and Arti & Mestieri (handcrafted foods and objects). I spent a lot of money in books and foods, obviously. Moreover as Ganesha Games we met a couple of times to play with games and to playtest some secret future Osprey releases, eating pizza, Greek street food and drinking mjed. As Ferrum et Gloria author I playtested in another two occasions some new things for Ferrum et Gloria part 2. In the last days I refurbished this blog with new colours and contents.
In the meantime we even had Christmas and New Year events, with a lot of correlated lunches and dinners. January and February are empty as conventions or tournaments so I will be more free to work on FeG, even if at the end of January there is the Nettunia landing anniversay. Next posts still with Lucca 2013 report: it was an huge fair.

Happy New Year!

Another year! Toward the future, looking back to the past. I saw the last year statements and I found that no target were achieved. So sad. However you can read 2013 posts on this blog to discover that in the past year I did something. Well, a lot of convention mainly. So, I try even this time to plan stuff relative to miniatures. I think (again) it is the time to publish Ferrum et Gloria. Final edit will start briefly. Ready for April? In the meantime I will start to write the second part. We will continue to produce new supplements for Of Gods And Mortals. And to work on new projects for Osprey. Another rule book is in the planning with a new system by me but, due to my scarce free time, written by Andrea. My father is painting my miniatures at bulk rates so I will have a lot of new little friends. I’m planning conventions and tournaments too, so I pinpointed some dates to my personal calendar. I’m updating the look of the blog. You will see all here. Happy New Year!

DBA Arezzo 2013

Another moment from the annual DBA Italian tournament “Dionigi Ioghà”. This time we were in Arezzo. A day trip to this Etruscan city, fighting with our 15mm miniatures. The theme was about Communal Italian Wars. We tested some rules from the beta of the new version. We used the terrain displacement and armies with 3 allies from another list. Well, I don’t like this terrain thing. You can obtain a casual terrain but some results are not practicable. About the allies, we would see the final list to give a verdict.

The people from Arezzo are unbeatable. Especially Marco Gasbarri. So the final result is fixed before the roll of dices. However is fun to discover who can reach lesser positions in the highest-ranking. The stars were right, so I reached the 4th position on 16 players. No prize for me, but honour for my Papal colours.

The usual fun, chatting with friends, competition, tiredness at the end the night at home. And here a photo of the lunch: soft drinks and cheap beer for traditional Pakistan and Near East food. In Tuscan country! A blasphemy…
