Le Grenadier club

During the day of the DBA tournment in Labaro, Diego showed the SDS rules to the other players. They set a game and this try got a good response. Maybe in the future we will have more SDS players in the area.

le grenadier club

Le Grenadier is an old club. They play Napoleonic games at most and Di Bartolo and his wife are reneactors of this era too. Their place is big, not humid and with all the services. Two big tables are in the room and there is space for more. The only bad thing is the urban wildness of the surroundings! They have a secret address and Napoleonic minis in a specific cabinet and wine boxes. They have minis even in the bathroom. Years of years of collecting and painting minis. Highest quality here, and all historically correct.
Here I put some of their beautiful collection to raise your envy!

Lucca 2010: Ferrum et Gloria

This is the last post about Lucca. Wow, I wanted to publish only some pics but instead I covered all the event with 14 posts! And to make this I spent a lot of time. I don’t want to pass all my time on this blog, I have other things to do! I had so much fun in Lucca and I wished to show you the feel that remains in me. From the last year, when I stayed in Lucca only a day, I wanted to stay the full period of the convention. I waited an entire year, so this was very important to me.

My game was present in Lucca too. I took with me the miniatures, the rules and my portable arena! Lucca games was so huge that I think only a few noted me and my fighters. Another time I must bring with me some hostesses undressed like female gladiators and it will be a full success.

I presented the game but I’m still not full ready with the rules and the heat and the chaos were not the best situation to explain it. It was only a taste of water. I was in Lucca too and this is the important thing.

Lucca 2010: more on games

lucca 2010
Other things on games in Lucca. Well, I must admit I spent almost 50euro on dices, but this hand is Diego’s hand! He spent the same, I think. There were Chessex and Q-workshop, so you could have a large choice of killer dices to put inside your fists. I bought strange dices to throw in my future tournaments, and one type is very beautiful and romantic, with little leafs carved on all the faces. So now I have a mug full of D6 dices. The sad thing is that Chessex have a weird change for the dollar: 1euro = 1dollar. Hey, this is damn wrong! The right is 1euro = 1.40 dollars! You found this only after we bought a lot of dices. Your is not an honest price mr. Chessex!

There was the historical corner. Well, not a corner but a large space of tables with miniatures. In the vastness of the place this space was very little indeed…

Here you can see Impetus and on the right upper corner Sfiligoi and Laliscia.

lucca 2010

And here Laliscia while entertains a family with his new game about American Civil War. Too many people, too much rain, and this family wanted some guy to babysit their children… It is all for free. I hope one of these children a day will be a player…
On the left the new publications from Ganesha!

Some people entertains other children, but dressed like some Napoleonic era soldier.

A la guerre is tested by Diego. He likes big battles with a lot of little guys made of lead.

In Lucca we tried (and bought) this boardgame wrote by two young Italians. It is about the management of teams of gladiators. The fights are decided by series of throw of dices (fun and with a good feel of gladiator style, indeed), but the interesting part is about the interaction with the other players to cheat the fight and to compete to set a spectacle in arenas around the Roman world. It is a simple game complicated by the possibility of interact with the others, to compose temporary alliances and treason to set your spectacle in the best way. Playable only with four players, for 2 or 3 people is lame. Game’s historical feel of the art is very good. Nice box with good materials, but I changed quickly the D10 dices inside with two with Roman numbers!

Just arrived: SDS Russians

SDS Russians

Dragon Paint is a panting service from China. My friend Bandini bring with him some surpluses to sell from his enlistment.

SDS Russians

Here we have his magical IKEA metallic box full of Russians on sale.

SDS Russians

My new Russian team while I was choosing which command group I have to bring with me at home.

SDS Russians

They are Front Rank miniatures. I hope that this Chinese painters buy their pieces from Front Rank, I don’t want clones. An officer painted by Roberto Bagna (right) compared with an officer painted by Dragon Paint (left). The photo is out of focus but you can see the differences, especially for the uniform details, painted with more speed and sometimes not so historically accurate for the Chinese.
Well, I prefer the Bagna one, it is more realistic and well painted, but the Russians from China are not bad, cheap and Bagna is not my painter (sigh!). In the future I will have something little more from Dragon Paint.

SDS Terni 2010

SDS Terni 2010

I suppose there is something wrong in my matches… Today the Roman contingent went very bad: last (Paolo), almost last (me), almost almost almost last (Diego). Wake up at 6.40 in the morning on Sunday, 4 hours of car, 30 euros no more in my pockets… Something to think about!
Well, it was not bad at all. I have fun. Yes, fun. A day playing with my friends from all around (central) Italy is a fun.

SDS Terni 2010

Here some chaps at the results desk. Thoughts about tactics and the armies.

SDS Terni 2010

Are you saying that I cannot shooting him?

SDS Terni 2010

My heroic Dragone della Guardia among goddamns, looking for the life of their commander.

SDS Terni 2010

Evil frog-eaters in the safety behind the wall.

SDS Terni 2010

My heroics troops before to be overwhelmed by a (not so) suicide charge by the evil frog-eaters.

SDS Terni 2010

A charge against my heroes by the Ganesha boss. I died after one or two moves…

Just arrived: Front Rank

A small but heavy box is now in my home. Some reinforcements for my SDS armies. My little warriors will mount on horses.
There are 3 layers of miniatures in the box but I have no time to take away them from it, too much work to do in these days. I have no time to sleep too, only 6 or less hours at day…
